4 Tips to Get More Facebook Likes and Shares to Increase Search Rankings of your Website

"Facebook likes and shares are social signals that boost your search rankings. If you are wondering why, read on."

In the post Panda and Penguin era, Google has become very strict about content quality as well as quality of links. Content that becomes popular on Facebook with numerous likes and shares indicates to the search engine that this is relevant, high quality content that is adding value to readers. Hence, in response, its search ranking gets bumped up.

Likewise, content that gets shared extensively on Facebook gets higher visibility amongst a wider audience, increasing the chances of getting organic back links from relevant websites. And this is of course a positive factor for increasing search rankings.

The question now is how to get more Facebook likes and shares for your content and how to get more fans for your Facebook profile. Because when you have more fans, more people have access to your Facebook posts and updates and the chances of getting more likes and shares increase. Here are 4 tips to get you started.

1. Create Compelling Content that Adds Value

This is rule #1 and there really are no short cuts. Unless your content offers something new and interesting and unless it adds value in some way, you can be quite sure, it will not generate likes and shares. Share latest industry news and developments, present your views on a current, much-discussed topic, present innovative ideas, offer help and guidance, where applicable, these are some of the content ideas that are likely to garner likes and shares on Facebook.

 2. Acknowledge Likes and Shares

Ok, once you have a deluge of likes and shares, it might become difficult to acknowledge all of them. But at least, when you are starting out, take time out to drop a line and thank people who have shared your content. This makes them happy (who wouldn’t be) and increases the chances that they will share again.

 3.  Reward People for ‘Liking’ You

Encourage more people to become Facebook fans by offering an attractive reward - it could be a free gift, a valuable ebook or a sample pack of your new product. Or you could have an ‘exclusive reward’ for the ‘first fifty likes’ for your website. These are just some ideas. You can come up with even more creative and more effective ones.

 4.  Promote Your Facebook Page in your Offline Promotions

Include your Facebook page details in your offline flyers, brochures, visiting cards and other promotional media, asking people to like you on Facebook. Include your Facebook page link in your email signatures, offering people a chance to directly connect with you on Facebook.

What other ways have you used to increase your Facebook likes, shares and fans?

"The system of paying to message non-friends in their Facebook inbox is designed to prevent spam, while acknowledging that sometimes you might want to hear from people outside your immediate social circle, a Facebook spokesperson is quoted as saying.

"We are testing a number of price points in the UK and other countries to establish the optimal fee that signals importance. Part of that test involves charging higher amounts for public figures, based on the number of followers they have. This is still a test and these prices are not set in stone."

Facebook had started testing the paid e-mail service with select users in the U.S. earlier this year. “This test will give a small number of people the option to pay to have a message routed to the Inbox rather than the Other folder of a recipient that they are not connected with,” the company had said in a statement.

Make these changes:
  • The text in blue can be changed to anything you wish. You can leave it as default.
  •  *30 Setting this value will effect cookie refreshment. I have set the popup to appear only once to the visitor and this popup will appear again after 30 days. If you wish to display popup to your visitors after a week then set 30 to 7. Similar if you want it to appear daily then set 30 to 1. Note that if you set the value to low then it can irritate your daily readers.
  • Replace coderdesire with your facebook username.
  • Next replace twice coderdesire with your feed title. It appear at the end of your feed link. In my case it is:
http://feedburner.google.com/fb/a/mailverify?uri=coderdesire

    5.  Save the widget and drag the widget anywhere on your right sidebar. Place it below all widgets on your right sidebar

     6. Finally Click the orange save button towards top right.

     7.  Done!

*Note: Visit your blogs and see it popping up just fine! Remember as we already mentioned on previous post that the popup will show only once. To see it again you will first need to delete your browser cookie and then refresh the page to see it appearing again.

Add Facebook LikeBox inside Jquery Popup in Blogger

Social Media Means a lot now a days. More than that of the content any website the Social media Matter. To share and get popular among their reader you need to have a large no of fans. That value a lot. So This popup appears only once to every new visitor. The ip address of the visitor is stored in browser cookie and as the page loads again the widget wont be called again for the same visitor thus eliminating the chances of bugging regular readers. Because of course it will look weird if the popup appears again and again on every pageview. It will appear both on homepage and sub pages depending which page the visitor is accessing. I have set the cookie refresh time to 30 days, which means that this lightbox will appear again for the same visitor after 30 days. We can easily set the number of days to prompt the visitors about your Facebook Fan page. Lets get straight to the one step installation process.

You Access your Facebook with 3 Password

If you are facebook user. Did you know that you can login to your Facebook account using 3 different passwords? Seems interesting isn’t it? Yep! Unlike any other online account which has only one password to access, Facebook lets you log in using 3 different variants of your password.

Only a few Facebook users are aware of this fact, but for many others, this might seem a bit surprising. Facebook accepts the following forms of your password:

1. Your Original Password
Let me explain this to you with the following example. Assume that your default Facebook password that you created during the sign-up process is:

2. Password with the Case Toggled
In the above password the letters ‘F’ and ‘P’ are in uppercase and the remaining are in the lowercase. If you TOGGLE the case where all the UPPERCASE characters are converted into the lowercase and vice versa, your default password “myFacebookPass” would become:

Now if you log in using the above toggled password, your Facebook will accept it and welcomes you! This is the first variation of your default password which is accepted by Facebook.

3. Password with the First Letter Capitalized
If the first character of your password is in the lowercase, you may just change that first letter to UPPERCASE and Facebook will again accept it and let you in. As in case of the above example where your default password is “myFacebookPass”, if you just change the first letter to UPPERCASE, your password would be “MyFacebookPass” and this should work fine as well:

Please note : this option will work only for the Mobile uers!

Why 3 Passwords?

Now, you all know that Facebook can be accessed using 3 different passwords. But you may be curious to know the actual reason behind it.

Well, this is definitely not because Facebook has a bug or a serious vulnerability. In fact, this is just an option provided by Facebook itself to make the sign-in process easier for the users. Here’s how:

The most common reason for the authentic logins to be rejected is when the CAPS LOCK is ON. This is where the first variation comes in handy. That means, when the CAPS LOCK is ON the case gets reversed (toggled) for your password but Facebook will accept this as well.

In case of mobile users, it is a common for the first letter of the password to get capitalized which often leads to the login failure. So, in order to tackle this issue, Facebook will also accept the password where only the first letter is capitalized.

Thus if the CAPS LOCK is accidentally enabled, the toggled password feature would still let you log in to your account!

Now You can Chat with Facebook friend using Skype !

Since Facebook signed with Skype to provide their Users a Hangout Feature like Google provide to their Users. Although Facebook is all about connecting with your friends. It might not be the best chatting client, but it is the largest database of people online, since around 901 million people use Facebook actively. Many of you might know about Skype. It is one of the best chatting and IM, and the best voice chat services in the world. It so happens that now, you can integrate the best chatting service in the world with the world's largest database of profiles, and you've got yourself a powerful recipe to connect with the people around you that you love. Yes! You can now use Skype to chat with your Facebook friends and video call them without visiting Facebook.com!

Skype added this functionality ever since Skype 5.5 was released for Windows. A Mac version was also released. Previously, Facebook only allowed you to initiate calls if both people were on Facebook. But now, you can simply do that through your Skype desktop client.

Get the latest Skype

For this feature to work properly, make sure your Skype is up to date. Simply go to the Skype website, and download the version of Skype appropriate for your platform. currently, this feature is only available for Skype on Computer. But Skype is working on adding more devices and platforms, so hang in there while you connect.

You can now call your Facebook friends from Skype — even if those Facebook friends don’t have Skype.

Skype announced two new versions of its product Thursday: Skype 5.4 Beta for Mac and Skype 5.7 Beta for Windows. Both include Facebook integrations that essentially add your Facebook friends to your Skype contact list.

Facebook launched video chat powered by Skype in July, but the feature only allows Facebook friends to video chat with each other when they are both on Facebook. With Skype’s new integration, users who connect their Facebook profiles can make video calls from within Skype to friends who will answer using Facebook. They can also see from Skype’s dashboard when Facebook friends are online, read their status updates and IM them.

The integration will expand most users’ Skype contact lists dramatically, making Skype a more attractive social homebase.

How to Connect Skype With Facebook

To connect your Skype to Facebook:
  1. Simply Click on View on the Skype Menu bar
  2. click on Skype Home.
  3. A new Skype windows will open up.
  4. Click on the cog icon as shown in the image below.

"Once you click it, you'll see an option to 'Connect to Facebook'. It you don't see it, that means you're already connected! Now, go over to your Skype main view and click on the Facebook icon next to Contacts."

Once you click it, you'll see all your friends who are online on Facebook. You can talk to them or call them just like you would on Facebook. Cool, huh?

This is a very useful piece of functionality. It will expand the contact lists of many people, hence making it easier for them communicate with their friends, and that is what Skype aims for.
Company said: "We are on a mission to connect over one billion people and our continued partnership with Facebook brings us one step closer to this goal."

I wouldn't say one step. Rather, Skype is 901 million steps closer to their goal, since there are so many people on Facebook.

*Recommendation: Don't turn on notifications from Facebook on Skype, because people are always coming and going on Facebook, so they might irritate you :)
