For Improving SEO add Meta Tags To your Blog

10 comments
In this Tutorial Of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) after teaching you How to Improve SEO by Adjusting Blog Title Tags . I will show you the best way to add meta tags to your Blogger blog (Blogspot blog) to improve the SEO of your blog and work around the limitations of the Blogger platform.

I have observed that there are many Blogger help blogs out there telling you to just add meta tags however this will very likely achieve the opposite result from the one you are after. Whether you are yet to add meta tags or you have added meta tags already make sure you read and follow the methods contained in this article to get the best results.

What are Meta Tags?
Meta tags are HTML tags that provide additional information about your blog that is unseen by visitors but available to search engines. The meta description tag, for example, provides a short summary of the page content. The keyword meta tags show the keywords and keyword phrases a visitor might use to find your blog. Because of abuse of meta tags search engines have become smarter and most no longer place emphasis on keywords to establish page ranking however keyword meta tags are still used by some search engines so it is a good idea to include them.

Limitations of Blogger and SEO
One of the disappointing aspects of Blogger is that it is not properly optimized for SEO. Meta descriptions and keywords are not supported by blogger.com by default. Title tags are also not optimized. This means that you will miss valuable opportunities to attract visitors to your blog.

However meta tags and meta descriptions can be inserted into your Blogger template (Blogspot template) to good effect. Fortunately these work arounds will go a long way to improving the placement of your blog in search engine results. Please refer to adjust Blogger title tags for improved SEO for help with title tags.

Simply placing a meta tag description in your Blogger template is problematic because Blogger will use the same meta tags for all pages in your blog. This means that every entry that Google has for your site will show in search results with the same description. This solution would result in reduced traffic rather than increased traffic. However there is a way to add meta tags to the home page of your blog only which will not affect post pages in your blog. In this way visitors will find the home page of your blog in search engines by the use of appropriate keywords and a site description.

How to Add Meta Tags to a Blogger Blogspot Blog Home Page:

1. Login to Blogger if not already logged in

2. Navigate to Design > Edit HTML

3. Back up your template as a precaution by downloading full template to your computer.

4. Check the Expand Widget Templates box

5. Find these lines which will be near the top of your template:
<head>
<b:include data='blog' name='all-head-content'/>
<title><data:blog.pageTitle/></title>
6. Paste the following code immediately below <title><data:blog.pageTitle/></title>
<b:if cond='data:blog.url == data:blog.homepageUrl'>
<meta content='Place your blog description here' name='description'/>
<meta content='Place your blog keywords here(separated by commas)'
name='keywords'/>
</b:if>
7. Enter your blog description between the single quote marks under description. Maximum 150 characters

8. Enter the keywords of your blog between the single quote marks under keywords. Ensure you separate each keyword or keyword phrase by a comma. Make sure your keywords do not exceed 200 characters

By way of example here are the meta tags I use for the home page of Blog Know How:

<b:if cond='data:blog.url == data:blog.homepageUrl'>
<meta content='Find tips,tricks,tutorials,walkthroughs to customize your Blogger Blogspot blog.SEO,Banners,Adsense,gadgets,fixes,feeds,rss,help for beginner bloggers' name='description'/>
<meta content='blog,blogger,blogger.com,blogspot.com,blogspot,blogging,tutorials,tips,blogger help,customize blogger,SEO,make money,gadgets,Google Adsense,banners, feeds,analytics,solutions'
name='keywords'/>
</b:if>

9. Click on the Save Template button

10. To see your description in action you can either navigate to your blog's home page and click on view source in your browser.

In Internet Explorer you will find this option in the view menu. A text document will appear which you can scroll through. You will see your description near the top of the document. Alternatively you can check your description in a free Meta Tag Analyzer tool such as Submit Express or SEO Centro

How to Add Meta Tags to a Blogger Blogspot Blog Individual Post:

1. Follow steps 1 to 4 as for adding meta tags to the Home Page

2. Add the following in the <head> section of your Blogger template. Enter this code below the Home Page code above you have just entered:

<b:if cond='data:blog.url == "http://url of your post"'>
<meta content='keywords pertaining to your post' name='keywords'/>
<meta content='crafted description of your post' name='description'/>
</b:if>

Here is an example of optimized meta tags for this post:
<b:if cond='data:blog.url == "http://coderdesire.blogspot.in/2012/06/for-improving-seo-add-meta-tags-to-your.html"'>
<meta content='BLOGGING TUTORIAL, GOOGLE, SEO, TIPS AND TRICKS, TRAFFIC INCREASER' name='keywords'/>
<meta content='In this Tutorial Of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) after teaching you How to Improve SEO by Adjusting Blog Title Tags .' name='description'/>
</b:if>

3. Add your post URL, keywords and description. To find the URL of your post navigate to the post's page and copy the link showing in the address bar of your browser including the http:// prefix

4. Click on the Save Template button

5. To check your description you can use the view source in your browser once you have navigated to the post page or a meta tag analyzer

*Note: This method is suitable if you have a few key posts that you want to ensure you get maximum traffic on. If you have a lot of posts this manual method would be very tedious. I don't know of any automated method or script to add meta tags at this point but I am investigating it and will keep you posted.

Analyze Your Blogspot Blogger Meta Tags
Once you have added meta tags to your blog you can use tools to analyze them to ensure their relevance. Aim for meta tag relevancy to page content of above 90%. To check this you can use a free meta tag analyzer tool such as Submit Express or SEO Centro

Troubleshooting and Tips
Observe Character Limits
To avoid problems ensure that you keep within the maximum character limits:

Title Tag - Maximum Characters is 60
Site Description - Maximum Characters is 150
Keywords - Maximum Characters is 200

Title Tag Trick
If you have inserted the title tag tweak and it is highly recommended that you do so then you will need to add the code above after the title tag adjustment in the <head> section of your template. Read more about adjusting title tags

Keywords
Although some search engines no longer place too much emphasis on keywords some still do so it is worth adding keywords. Avoid using the same keyword more than 3 times. The maximum number of keywords recommended to be robot friendly is around 20.

Problems Reading the Code
Some readers have reported problems with their browser reading this code. Try this document form of the article if this happens to you

In this Blogger meta tag tutorial I have discussed the best way to add meta tags to a Blogger blog (Blogspot blog) to improve search engine results given the limitations of the Blogger platform. In this article you have learned to add both meta tags for keywords and descriptions to the home page. You have also learned how to add meta tags to an individual post. EU to Charge Microsoft Over Browser Ballot Glitch

Leave a Comment

Microsoft's failure to adhere to the European Commission's "browser ballot" requirement could result in formal charges, according to a new report.
As noted by Reuters, EU Competition Commissioner Joaquin Almunia told reporters in Warsaw that the organization is "working on" opening a formal proceeding against Microsoft for its browser missteps.
Almunia said he does not expect the investigation to last too long since Microsoft has already acknowledged its mistakes, Reuters said.
Almunia's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The controversy dates back to 2009, when the European Commission announced that Microsoft violated European competition law by bundling its Internet Explorer browser with Windows. As a result, Microsoft said it would ship a version of Windows 7 with a "browser ballot" that would allow users to select which browser they wanted during the OS installation process. The EU approved that plan in Dec. 2009 and it started rolling out two months later.
Earlier this year, the commission notified Microsoft that it had received reports of people not seeing the browser screen choice (BCS). Microsoft said it investigated and discovered that users of Windows 7 service pack 1 were not seeing the browser ballot due to a technical error. A fix started rolling out to PCs running Windows 7 SP1 in early July.
The EU opened an investigation and Almunia said at the time that "if following our investigation, the infringement is confirmed, Microsoft should expect sanctions."
In late July, the EU said its investigation had expanded to include accusations that Redmond discouraged computer makers from providing access to rival browsers, limited API access, and ditched support for other browsers in Windows RT.
Microsoft has not commented publicly on the controversy since admitting the glitch in a July blog post.

How To boost Search Engine Ranking Using Fundamental Link Building Practice

2 comments

We hear the entire buzz about getting back links over the web, but why are links so important to gain higher search engine rankings? First of all, links allow the search engines to find and index your website in the search engine databases. Second, high quality links help drive direct traffic and give the search engines an indicator of the importance of your website. The amount, the quality (trust), and the relevance of back links, will reveal many important signals to the search engines to determine the order of ranking. Obviously, Google cares first about its users, which are their utmost priority. All their technology is based on this philosophy. The more and the better they are able to satisfy their users, the more they will increase their market share (to sell more Adwords ads). They don’t want to ruin their SERPs with useless spam. This is why links from trusted websites are so important. The more trust the more and better rankings you will get.

In order to rank higher, you have to understand how Google places value on links. Each link is counted as a vote, but not all links are created equal meaning that not every link’s value is counted the same. If a link is deemed as high quality, it will pass on more link juice and therefore help your website gain higher ranking positions (compared to lower quality links). This means that getting a few links from really established and trusted websites (a.k.a. authority websites) is worth much more than a big quantity of low quality links. This brings us to the next point.

What is a Trusted (Authority) Website and What Qualities does it Possess?

  • It usually has lots of visitors.
  • It usually ranks well for a wide variety of popular and competitive keyword phrases. If a website ranks well for competitive keyword phrases, it’s a great sign that the website is highly trusted. Wikipedia is an example of a highly trusted source, which is cited from many research journals, government websites, media and the like, thus gives them that kind of high authority on the web. An authority website gets cited from these sources based on its merit, which is something they have earned from the web community. Obviously, trusted websites offer something of high value to other people, which is why it gets referred to.
  • It’s well established in the industry and the domain is usually older. The age of a domain is usually commensurate to its authority. You can check how old a website is by going to the Way Back Machine, http://www.archive.org

As you can see, Wikipedia went live on January 27, 2001. You will also be able to see what their website looked like in the past.

  • It has a good amount of high quality inbound links from other established websites in the industry. If a website has a high ratio of “junky websites” with little importance linking to them and just a few links/or none from established sources, the amount of trust that is being passed on to the website is less and vice versa.
  • It has lots of unique, high quality, and fresh content as Google wants to present this on top of the SERPs. If your website has established trust and authority in Google, your optimization becomes so much easier because all the new content that you publish on your site, will be crawled and indexed quicker, and also ranked higher. Likewise, a website with low trust/authority will be crawled less and new published pages will usually not appear high for any competitive phrases, as its source is not yet trusted. To establish yourself as an expert should be a core strategy and agenda that you continuously want to pursue for your website. When your website continuously publishes fresh and highly interesting information it will usually earn its way to the top gradually.
  • Finally, it usually has a high Google Page Rank.

Relevancy of a Link

While it’s important to have trusted websites link to your website in order to establish more credibility for your website, it’s also important to get links that are of high relevancy. If there is a close match between the pages that link to each other, the relevancy is higher. If you have a website that sells boat tours and you get a link from a travel related page about boats, this would be a highly relevant page. Remember that the relevancy is measured from webpage A to webpage B and not site wide. So if you have a link from a related page, but the website is not about this related topic, it’s still considered to be relevant because both pages match. Therefore, it’s important to get thematically related pages to link to related pages on your website to increase relevancy. JC Penny got penalized heavily by Google for having an unnatural high level of irrelevant websites linking to them, so your link building efforts can go south very quickly if you do not pay attention to the quality and trust of a back link.

Enjoy !

Phishing for Passward is of Unwary for Google Users...!!!

1 comment

Do you have any idea How much damage could be done if your Gmail password fell into the wrong hands?

Quite a lot I would wager.

Because not only would an identity thief be able to send emails pretending to be you, and trawl through your old messages for passwords and financial information, but also your Gmail password will also unlock your other Google accounts – including Google+, Adwords, Google Checkout, Google Docs, YouTube and so forth..

So, you should work hard to protect your username and password credentials for Google login details.

Here’s an email that SophosLabs has seen spammed out, pretending to come from Google’s team:

The email claims that the recovery email address associated with your Google account has changed, and if you do not verify it then you might lose your account in its entirety.

Dear Account User,
Thanks for updating your e-mail address with us.We changed your recovery e-mail address in our files to [redacted]@hotmail.com.If this is correct, you can disregard this e-mail. If the new e-mail address is not correct or you did not request this change. Follow the instruction in updating your account
http://accounts.google.com
However, Failure to do so may result in account suspension permanently.
Thanks for using Gmail!.
Sincerely
Gmail!.
Clicking on the link in the spammed-out email does not take you to your Google accounts settings, however. Instead, you are taken to a compromised website which is hosting a phishing page – designed to steal your password.

Hope You like it..... So....Be Safe Be Protected.....Enjoy....:)))
